Tyler Hamilton

I have been thinking about the recent retirement of Tyler Hamilton. It seems to me that a win at all costs attitude that cost him his reputation and a promising career cost to much. The stage 16 win in the 2003 Tour de France with a broken collar bone was one of the most inspiring sport performances I have ever seen. That level of perseverance does not come from performance enhancing drugs but it was wasted. “Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes according to the rules.” 2 Timothy 2:5 (NIV).
